A Personal Project – the culmination of the MYP
As of 30th November 2020 PSHS American College Arcus Ltd has been accredited as an international school that implements the Middle Years Programme (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate Organization. The programme aims to foster the development of independent life-long learners with a responsibility for their own education, a desire to share their knowledge and tolerance to different experiences and cultures.
The MYP represents a framework which sets the teaching and assessment methods. This programme encourages students to make practical connections between the subjects they have been taught and real life.
Our education in grades 9 and 10 combines the study material of the Bulgarian national curriculum with the methodology of the International Baccalaureate providing the opportunity for wide practical application of students’ knowledge in the academic disciplines.
The personal project is the culmination of the MYP. It is developed by the tenth graders over several months (from September to March).
The topics the students work on is chosen depending on their personal characteristics, talents and interests. Through the Personal project the student makes the connection between what has been studied in and outside the school and demonstrates the learning skills that have been acquired.
