MYP programme
As of November 30, 2020, American College - Arcus Ltd. is accredited as an international school implementing the Middle Years Programme (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate Organization. The programme develops students' responsibility for their own learning, a willingness to share their knowledge and tolerance of different experiences and other cultures.
The MYP is a framework that sets out the methods of learning and the means of assessment. This programme encourages students to make practical connections between what they are learning and real life.
The instruction of our ninth and tenth grade students combines the material of the national curriculum with the methodology of the International Baccalaureate, providing a basis for broad practical application of knowledge in the academic subjects.
The personal project is the culmination of MYP learning. It is developed by the tenth graders over several months (September through March).
The topic students work on is chosen according to their personal qualities, talents and interests. Through the personal project, the student makes connections to what they have learned in and out of school and demonstrates the learning skills they have acquired.
