An “appetising” Spanish lesson

The 8th graders who started learning Spanish this school year had the opportunity to discuss the present tense and conjugation of Spanish verbs in class while cooking tortilla española. The students learned the steps for preparing the Spanish dish. The main ingredient of tortilla Española – potatoes, originated in Peru and spread to the rest of the world after the contact of the Europeans with the American continent in the 16th century. Thus, the students and their teacher continued the theme of the Discovery of America by the Spanish colonisers from 12th October  Día de la Hispanidad. They also talked about the must-have women's accessory, Mantón de Manila (the Manila shawl) from the time when Spain extended to the Philippines. It was a colourful lesson filled with many emotions and plans for the future...
