Dimitar Mitev (12b) won a competition organized by the European Member of Parliament Mariya Gabriel

At an official ceremony at the Informational Bureau of the European Parliament in Sofia, the European Member of Parliament Mariya Gabriel, leader of the Bulgarian delegation in the group of ENP and a deputy chairman of the group of ENP in the European Parliament, awarded the winners in the competition which she organized for students from all over the country. The topic of this year’s essay and multimedia presentation was “The European Aid for Development – my point of view, my ideas”. The Competition was divided in two age groups – students in 8th to 9th grade and students in 10th to 12th grade.

In the multimedia presentation category Dimitar Mitev from American College Arcus won a visit in the European Parliament in Brussels.

Before the announcement of the results and the giving of the awards, Mariya Gabriel welcomed the participants and the guests at the ceremony, emphasizing on the importance of the European aid for the developing countries, for it is beneficial for the citizens themselves.

“The topic was difficult, but the main thing is that the aid is an investment in a more peaceful and safer world. Most of the participants highlighted the importance of education as a main priority of the development aid. The thing that makes me happy is that the youth has understood that the better the education, the better the perspectives of economic and social development are. The main message is that the European Union must not stop supporting the poorest and least developed member countries because, by doing so, we help ourselves”, mentioned Mariya Gabriel.
