Maria Mitsova at the Youth Olympics!
The 5th Israel Junior International Tournament, part of the Badminton Europe Junior Circuit and the last tournament from the Youth Olympic Games Qualifications 2014, took place from 24.04.2014 to 27.04.2014. The Bulgarian team was presented by the national players Vladimir Shishkov from Stara Zagora and Maria Mitsova, a player from SCB Prista – Ruse.
The ladies competed in a scheme of 32 players and Maria Mitsova, who held the No 1 spot in the ranking, expectedly reached the final. On her way she defeated Imke van der Aar/Holland/, Ksenya Evgenova/Russia/, Daniela Brandes/Peru/. In the final match she lost to Anastasia Ronzhina/Russia/ 21:13 21:16.
Despite her defeat, with the 3400 points she won at this tournament, Maria Mitsova moved two spots ahead in the world junior ranking which guarantees her a place in the Youth Olympics in China in August.
