Meeting the writer Tsanko Lalev
Each author’s creative work is multi-layered – with amplitudes of lyrical and dramatic tones which intertwine along the spirals of time in a rhythmic or dissonant ways. Thoughts, trepidations, revelations in poems or prose. That is why the team of American College Arcus welcomed their guest today– the author Tsanko Lalev - by performing some lyrical excerpts produced during his youth accompanied by classical music. Magdalena Hristova and Dara Djanabetska (X a) performed the poems Sand Quarry and Bird Cage accompanied by flute - Desislava Dobreva IX a – and piano – Kaloyan Vashkov XI a. The audience enjoyed one more musical performance of a trio – cello - Eva Dimitrova VII a, flute – Margarita Mochukova VI and piano – Kaloyan Vashkov XI a. Afterwards there was a talk with Tsanko Lalev, who told the audience about his creative excitement surrounding the publication of his debut novel The House of Bees; about his interest in history, folklore and mythology as well as his emotional connection with our town Veliko Tarnovo. The hosts Mirena Petkova and Mila Tabakova (X c) asked questions about the mythological creatures and the Bogomil heresy, which the author introduces in his book. College students interested in the writing profession and the secrets of creative writing received valuable advice by our guest, after which there was a presentation of Hermes Publishing House. The meeting ended with autographs and with the promise it would be the beginning of a good creative friendship.
