PSHS "AC-ARCUS" EOOD VELIKO TARNOVO IN THE TOP 10 OF THE 20TH NATIONAL COMPETITION IN NATURAL SCIENCES AND ECOLOGY, KOPRIVSHTICA
From 18th to 20th November 2022, the 20th, anniversary National Competition in Natural Sciences and Ecology was held in the city of Koprivshtitsa. This competition is included in the calendar of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) in Bulgaria. The national competition format involves a poster exhibition and a research project defence by students of different age groups.
PSHS "AC-Arcus" EOOD, Veliko Tarnovo was represented with two projects. Gayane Pogosyan’s and Ivana Stoyanova's 10th-grade project "Chemistry of aromas" presented scented candles created by the students and information about the application of aromatherapy in various spheres of life. The project was ranked 9th among 43 teams in the Second Age Group (8 - 12 grade) and received an excellent score of 5.75. The head of the project is Mrs Veselka Nedkova, a Chemistry and Environmental Protection teacher.
Maria Arsova’s and Boyana Komsiyska’s project from the 10th grade on the topic "Bulgarian traditions in modern biotechnologies" received a very good 5.25 grade. The project presented handmade clay vessels for the biotechnological production of Bulgarian yoghurt and a scientific study of factors affecting its quality. The project leads are Mrs Silvana Tabakova - a Chemistry and Environmental Protection teacher, and Mrs Jenna Staykova - a Biology and Health Education teacher.
The projects defence of both teams from PSHS "AC-Arcus" EOOD was highly praised by the National Commission for their exceptional creativity, applied knowledge and experimental skills achieved by the authors of the projects.
