The Euroscola competition of the European Parliament has for the third time been won by our students!

We have great news! For the third time in a row, our students have won the prestigious Euroscola programme competition of the European Parliament! The competition is held once every 5 years, which makes our team's victory even more important. Several students from the 12 A class - Aleksandra Kuneva, Georgi Zdravkov, Ivana Stoyanova, Ivon Gurcheva, Iliya Yordanov, Mariya Arsova, and Niya Vladova, participated and won the contest. Their mentor was their teacher in civic education - Ivanichka Slavcheva. The prize for the winners is a visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg for 24 students who are between 16 and 18 years old. In Strasbourg the students will get acquainted with the work of the institution as well as immersing themselves into the roles of MEPs for a day.

The participants had to prepare 12 topics from a pre-set outline and present one within five minutes. A lot determined the topic. The teams' introductions were presented in Bulgarian, while the summary and presentation of their opinions were in English and presented within only 2 minutes. Our team brilliantly presented its summary on "Sustainable Development and the Circular Economy. Environmental Protection." Our participants also answered additional questions, expressing their perceptions and giving clear and irrefutable arguments.

But let us also tell you a little more about Euroscola to understand why this is a tremendous success for our students and for us as an institution. The programme was set up in 1990 with the idea of bringing together students  aged of at least 14 years old from all of the 27 EU Member States, applicant countries, and former Member States to debate, take sides, negotiate, amend, vote, and finally adopt resolutions on real European issues. The students get an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the workings of the European institutions, discuss democracy, fundamental rights, and European values, and express their personal opinions on the decisions taken at the European Union level.
