Young Scientists from American College Arcus -Honored for Their International-Level Research Achievements!
Students from grades 9c and 11c class, specializing in Natural Sciences at American College Arcus, participated in the 11th edition of the International Science Fair Fission 2026, held on April 17–18, 2026, at the American College of Sofia.
The prestigious international forum featured innovative experimental projects and models presented by participants from Bulgaria, Turkey, Hungary, North Macedonia, and Romania. The projects were evaluated by an international jury composed of scientists and researchers from various fields of natural sciences.
Inspired by the challenges of science, our students developed their own experimental designs aimed at exploring processes and patterns that spark their curiosity. Their research results and presentations impressed both the jury and the visitors with their depth, scientific approach, and original contributions.

• Honorable Mention awarded to Kalina Borislavova Borisova and Katerina Danielova Georgieva (Grade 9c) for their project:
“Investigation of the Impact of Probiotics in Lactose Hydrolysis”
• Excellent performance by Siana Yordanova Georgieva, Bozhidara Nikolaeva Toteva, and Magdalena Pencheva Boyadzhieva (Grade 9c) for their project:
“How Music Genres Affect Plant Growth and Chlorophyll Production”
• Excellent performance by Elitsa Stefanova Angelova and Ivana Martinova Markova (Grade 9c) for their project:
“Dose-Dependent Effect of Ethanol on Lipase Activity in Vitro”
• Excellent performance by Iliya Svetlomirov Todorov (Grade 11c) for his project:
“Colorimetric Sutures for Detecting Wound pH Changes During Infection”
The mentors of the student research projects are the biology and health education teachers Ms. Dzhena Staykova and Ms. Semiha Mehmedova.
